About TURNCOAT DEBATE
A turncoat is a form of debate where the speaker literally
debates against oneself.
The speaker starts by
taking a stance on the topic and switches sided after a specific duration
of time. In this style of debating, the same speaker shifts
allegiance between "for" and "against" the motion. It is a solo contest,
unlike other debating forms. In a turncoat
format, the emphasis is one transition, the strength of argument and balancing
of opinions.

I. ELIGIBILITY:
1. All students in graduation from all course of any year are eligible to participate in this debate.
II. RULES AND REGULATIONS:
1. The motion for the first round will be released 3 days before the competition.
2. The speaker
is required to speak from both sides.
3. A total of 6 minutes is given to each speaker. The break-up of the speech shall be:
a) For the motion: 2.5 minutes
b) Against the motion: 2.5 minutes
c) Conclusion: 1 minute
4. The participants are required to adhere to the time limit.
5. The medium of debate shall
be strictly English.
III. REGISTRATION:
For accommodation the participant has to pay an amount of 900/- for a day.
IV. MARKING SCHEME
1. The Participants will be evaluated on the basis of the following criteria :-
a) Manner (100)
b) Matter (100)
c) Method (100)
AWARDS
i. A participation certificate will be given to all participants.
ii. Best Speaker:
Rs.5000/- with Trophy and a certificate of appreciation.
iii. Runners up: Rs. 3000/- with Trophy and a certificate of appreciation.
